1314 - Battle of Bannockburn

On this day in 1314 began the Battle of Bannockburn, a decisive engagement in Scottish history whereby the Scots defeated the English, regained their independence, and established Robert the Bruce as Robert I.


1757 - The Battle of Plassey begins between the British Army and Siraj ud-Daulah who took control of the British occupation of Bengal.


1868 - American inventor Christopher Latham Sholes and two others were granted a patent for a typewriter.


1961 - The Antarctic Treaty was enacted, reserving the entire continent for free and nonpolitical scientific investigation.

2014 - Gujarat ‘Rani Ki Vav’ and Himachal ‘Great Himalayan National Park’ were included in the World Heritage List.


2016 - Britain's exit (“Brexit”)

The United Kingdom voted in a referendum to withdraw from the European Union, with 51.9 percent supporting Britain's exit (“Brexit”) and 48.1 percent opposing the move; it marked the first time a country had decided to leave the organization.

2. 1987 - Tanmay Bhat
Tanmay Bhat is an Indian YouTuber, comedian, scriptwriter, Actor, performer and producer. He was the co-founder and former CEO of the creative agency All India Bakchod along with Gursimranjet Singh Khamba. In 2018, he was a judge on Season 1 of Comicstaan, a stand-up comedy competition broadcast on Amazon Prime.
