1606 - The fifth leader of the Sikh religion Guru Arjan Dev was died after being tortured by the Mughal government for around five days.

1903 - The Ford Motor Company was founded by Henry Ford and 11 associate investors.


1911 - International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), a leading American computer manufacturer, was incorporated.


1963 - First woman in space

On this day in 1963, Soviet cosmonaut Valentina V. Tereshkova became the first woman to travel in space, having been launched into orbit aboard the spacecraft Vostok 6, which completed 48 orbits in 71 hours.


2000 - Israel complies with UN Security Council Resolution 425 after 22 years, which calls on Israel to completely withdraw from Lebanon. Israel withdraws from all of Lebanon, except the disputed Sheba Farms.


2010 - The Tobacco Control Act of Bhutan was enacted by the parliament. It banned the cultivation, harvesting, production and sale of tobacco and tobacco products in Bhutan


2012 - Liu Yang became the first Chinese woman in space when she and two other crew members were launched aboard the spacecraft Shenzhou 9.


2019 - India imposes retaliatory tariffs on 28 US goods.


2020 - At least 20 Indian soldiers killed in 1st deadly clash on the Chinese Indian border in 45 years in the Galwan Valley, Himalayas

2. 1971 - Imtiaz Ali 
Imtiaz Ali is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar, Highway and Tamasha.

3. 1990 - Amaal Mallik
Amaal Mallik is an Indian music director, composer, singer, music producer, arranger, background scorer, performer and lyricist. He is the elder son of Daboo Malik and Jyothi Malik, and grandson of Sardar Malik.
