1. 1215 - Magna Carta Sealed By King John
Magna Carta—a charter of English liberties that occupies a unique place in the popular imagination as a symbol and a battle cry against oppression. It was sealed on this day, under threat of civil war, by King John in 1215.
2. 1219 - Dannebrog World's Oldest National Flag
Dannebrog is the flag of Denmark and the oldest national flag in the world. According to legend, it fell from the sky during the Battle of Lyndanisse (now Tallinn) in Estonia, and turned the Danes' luck.
3. 1667 - 1st fully documented human blood transfusion
The first direct blood transfusion to a human was performed by the physician Jean-Baptiste Denis, when he gave a feverish young man approximately 12 ounces of blood taken from a lamb. The young man recovered quickly.
