3. 1946 - The National Basketball Association (NBA) is founded

The National Basketball Association is a professional basketball league in North America composed of 30 teams. It is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier professional basketball league in the world.


4. 1981 - Bihar train disaster

In the Indian state of Bihar, on June 6, 1981, a passenger train carrying more than 800 passengers between Mansi and Saharsa, India derailed and plunged into the river Bagmati while it was crossing a bridge.


5. 1997 - 'Bistek' an economic cooperation group formed

On June 6, 1997, representatives from the governments of Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand met in Bangkok to sign the “Declaration on the Establishment of the Bangladesh-India-Sri Lanka-Thailand Economic Cooperation (BIST-EC)”. The institutional development of BIMSTEC has been gradual.

 1. 1984 - Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a militant Sikh religious preacher, died
Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, original name Jarnail Singh, (born 1947, Rodey [or Rode], India—died June 6, 1984, Amritsar), Sikh religious leader and political revolutionary whose violent campaign for autonomy for the Sikh state of Punjab and armed occupation of the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) complex in Amritsar led to a violent and deadly confrontation with the Indian military in 1984.
