World Sports Journalists Day
World Sports Journalists Day is celebrated every year on July 2. Also referred to as International Sports Journalists Day, the holiday was created in 1994 by the International Sports Press Association to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
1964 - Civil Rights Act signed
U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, perhaps the most important U.S. law on civil rights since Reconstruction (1865–77) and a hallmark of the American civil rights movement.
1972 - Simla Agreement Signed
The treaty was signed in Simla in India by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the President of Pakistan, and Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India. The agreement also paved the way for diplomatic recognition of Bangladesh by Pakistan. It came after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, which started when India entered East Pakistan as a partner of Bengali insurgents engaged in the Bangladesh Liberation War against Pakistani state troops.
1979 - The United States first issued the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin, making Anthony the first woman to be depicted on U.S. currency.
2004 - Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
