World Youth Skills Day

This day is aimed to highlight the importance of providing skill development opportunities to the youth to aid them in getting employment or getting self-employed.


Social Media Giving Day

The day was inaugurated by Givver.com, a platform dedicated to fundraising through Twitter, in 2013. Social Media Giving Day is a day to support charities and create fundraising awareness.


1916 - Boeing, the world's largest aerospace company

Boeing incorporated the business as the Pacific Aero Products Co., which a year later became Boeing Airplane Co. After the U.S. entered World War I, the military needed naval training planes, so Boeing shipped two new Model Cs to Pensacola, Fla. The Navy was impressed and ordered 50 more.


1955 – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister was awarded the Bharat Ratna by then President Rajendra Prasad.


1965 - Close-up pictures of Mars provided by Mariner 4

Mariner 4, an uncrewed space probe launched by NASA in 1964, flew by Mars and returned close-up pictures of its surface on this day in 1965, the pictures proving that the planet's rumoured canals were actually illusions.


1972- NASA's Pioneer 10 spacecraft became the first to enter the asteroid belt.

Pioneer 10 began breaking records shortly after launch. As it zipped toward Jupiter, it became the first spacecraft to ever venture beyond Mars. Then, on July 15, 1972, the spacecraft entered the asteroid belt — a swath of rocky material that spans about 280 million kilometers (175 million miles) in width.


1979 - Morarji Desai resigns as Prime Minister of India

Controversial trials of prominent Congress leaders, including Indira Gandhi over Emergency-era abuses worsened the fortunes of his administration. In 1979, Raj Narain and Charan Singh pulled out of the Janata Party, forcing Desai to resign from office and retire from politics.


2006 - Twitter publicly launched

Cofounders Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, and Biz Stone publicly launched their online microblogging service Twitter, and within the following decade it had more than 300 million users.

1. 1611 - Jai Singh I

Jai Singh I was a senior general of the Mughal Empire and the Raja of the Kingdom of Amber. His predecessor was his grand uncle, Raja Bhau Singh.

2. 1912 - Brigadier Mohammad Usman
Brigadier Mohammad Usman Ansari MVC was the highest ranking officer of the Indian Army killed in action during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947. As a Muslim, Usman became a symbol of India's inclusive secularism.
