Online Nomination for 2023-24 Under INSPIRE Awards MANAK Scheme

 

As you may be aware that INSPIRE - MANAK Scheme is a flagship program implemented by Department of Science & Technology with a basic objective to instil creative/innovative thinking among school students in the age group of 10-15 years and studying in class 6-10.

 

The MANAK Scheme envisages to target one million original/innovative ideas from students studying in more than five lakh middle and high schools across the country and selecting the best ideas having potential to cater to societal needs and applications, thereby motivating these students to take these ideas forward for prototype and product development.

 

The Online nominations for 2023-24, will resume from 01st May 2023. the schools will be able to submit their online nominations till 31st August 2023.

 

What kind of submissions will not be encouraged?

(Examples included but are not limited to the following)

 

Under INSPIRE Awards- MANAK scheme each school can nominate a maximum of five ideas/ innovations of the students based on the degree of novelty, social applicability, environmental implications, potential impact, scope for diffusion through commercial and/or non-commercial channels, relevance to existing government schemes etc.

 

Kind of submissions will not be encouraged are common ideas/concepts from textbooks/ others, which includes:

 

Ø Energy generator, generation of electricity through turbines/waste batteries/dung/transport/wave etc.

Ø Rain water harvesting, earthquake, soil erosion

Ø Water level indicator

Ø Alarms-burglar alarms, gas alarms, fire alarms etc

Ø Vermi-compost/Vermiwash

Ø Letter box alarm

Ø Conversion of wind energy, solar energy to electricity

Ø Hydraulic lift

Ø Drip irrigation, vacuum cleaner

Ø RFID and sensor based ready-made projects.

Ø Automatic on/off of street light, smart city

Ø Essay on topics

Ø Demonstration of volcanic eruption

Ø Food adulteration

Ø Carbon cycle/water cycle, food chain, eco system, photosynthesis, zoo model, kitchen garden.

Ø Model on human body parts

Ø Solar system, planet, earth movement.

Ø General methods of water filtration, self-watering system for plants.

 

Nomination Process

 

The nomination process for the INSPIRE Awards Online Nominations 2023 is designed to be simple and accessible. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to participate:

Step 1: One Time Registration of School with DST

Ø Internal idea competition is initially held in schools to select 5 students with 5 best ideas.

Ø Students are encouraged to come up with write up of the solution. During whole process teachers guide the students.

Ø Visit the official INSPIRE Awards website (www.inspireawards-dst.gov.in) and click on the registration link.

Ø Fill out the online registration form with the required details, including personal information, school details, and mentor information.

Ø Verify your email address to complete the registration process.

Ø Once the school is registered, Application No., User Id and Password is allotted to school for login Purpose.

 

Step 2: Project Submission

Ø Once registered, log in to your account on the INSPIRE Awards portal.

Ø Fill out the project submission form, providing a detailed description of your project, its objectives, methodology, and potential impact.

Ø Upload any supporting documents, images, or videos that showcase your project’s progress and outcomes.

 

Step 3: After the Online Nomination

Ø After the nomination are closed the ideas uploaded throughout the country are evaluated to select the students with their ideas.

Ø The awardees are paid Rupees 10000/- through DBT system.

Ø The awardees have to prepare the model/prototype using the award money for participation in Exhibitions.

Ø The awardees (selected students) participate in different events such as

DLEPC (DIstrict Level Exhibition and Project Competition)

SLEPC(State Level Exhibition and Project Competition)

NLEPC(National Level Exhibition and Project Competition).
